Self-Assembled liposomes Enhance electron Transfer for efficient Photocatalytic diHydrogen production

Artificial photosynthesis is one of the current scientific challenges. SAETPHy aims to study a novel biomimetic assembly platform based on liposomes as nanocompartments to confine the reaction spaces and allow the transport of charge carriers across membranes. This system allows co-embedding surfactant-type photoactive iron complexes as photosensitizer and cobalt catalysts for hydrogen evolution in a lipid membrane. In addition, such lipid membranes provide compartmentalization that will be used to separate the distinct redox environments necessary for an overall water-splitting system.
