As part of the 2nd TSU–UL International Staff Week, titled “From Research to Innovation: Platform-Based Staff Week” (8–12 June 2026), the PhotoNS platform of L2CM (UMR 7053, Université de Lorraine) had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU, Georgia) during their visit to the University of Lorraine.
The visit provided an opportunity to present the scientific scope and technical capabilities of the PhotoNS platform, highlighting its advanced photonic and spectroscopic instrumentation dedicated to multidisciplinary research. The platform supports a broad range of applications spanning chemistry, materials science, and life sciences, and plays a key role in fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.
Particular attention was given to the platform’s biological applications, including research conducted under BSL-2 conditions in virology and bacteriology, as well as studies on cancer cell models, notably in photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal approaches. These activities illustrate the platform’s strong contribution to bridging physical chemistry and biological research through advanced optical methodologies.
The delegation showed strong interest in the experimental approaches and ongoing collaborative research efforts supported by the platform, reflecting the growing importance of shared technological infrastructures in fostering international scientific exchange.
The PhotoNS team warmly thanks Arnaud Risler and Stéphanie Philippot (engineers), as well as Camille Morgenthaler, Tanguy Pichot (students), and Owen Mototsune (postdoctoral researcher, Canada) for their valuable contributions and assistance during the demonstrations.
This visit further strengthened scientific interactions between TSU and the University of Lorraine and highlighted the strategic role of the PhotoNS platform within L2CM in supporting collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
